Bismillah ar-Rahman ar-Rahim

In Appreciation of the Diwan titled Itā‘at
Composed by Syed Hamid Yazdani sahib

All praise is for Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may the blessings and salutations of Allah be for ever on our Beloved Holy Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu ‘alayhi wa Sallam) who is mercy for all the worlds.

It gives me great pleasure to write in appreciation of this Diwan of more than 100 religious poems, composed by Syed Hamid Yazdani sahib. The naatya kalaam (poems) which he has composed in praise of our Beloved Holy Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu 'alayhi wa Sallam) is heart warming and pleasing. May he continue to build on this solid foundation that he has established, Amin.

The name of the Diwan is Itā‘at (Obedience). This title is instructive as it reminds us of the necessity of obeying the Commands of Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta‘ala) in the Qur’an Karim, and the commands of RasulAllah (Sallallahu ‘alayhi wa Sallam) in the Hadith Sharif. And the naats (eulogies) have Sallallahu ‘alayhi wa Sallam written at the top. This then is the seal of musk for this Diwan. So it is not surprising that the naats with the radif (refrain) "Sallallahu ‘alayhi wa Sallam" come out the most resounding and memorable and will InshaAllah be increasingly recited at the majalis (gatherings) of ‘Eid Milad un-Nabi (Sallallahu ‘alayhi wa Sallam).

Here we also find the tazmin (takhmis) of the kalaam of:
A‘la Hadrat Imam Ahmad Raza Khan,
Hadrat Syed Yazdani Jalandhari, his father,
Hadrat Aleem Nasiri,
Hadrat Hafiz Taib, and
Hadrat Ahmad Nadim Qasmi.
This then is his link with the shu‘ara (poets), the ‘ulama (religious scholars) and the awliya (sufi masters).

May Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta‘ala) give long life with good health to our dear brother Syed Hamid Yazdani sahib so that he continues with his good work in Muslim poetry and increases in his efforts to serve Muslims in many capacities, Amin. May Allah accept his efforts, Amin.
